Psychological Practice:
I am now based in Cairns
and Brisbane and travel regularly
to Townsville for Parole Board
meetings. Consequently, I am generally available to interview
and assess clients in all three centres and surrounding
regions. Travel to isolated Indigenous communities continues
to be part of my practice.
Since 1999 I have developed a practice which deals predominantly with the preparation of court reports. This involves interviewing clients, the use of psychometric assessment, and drawing and engrossing the report. Appearance in Court following submission of the report is also an aspect of my practice.
I have prepared reports in all areas of law but with a particular focus on:-
Pre-Sentence Reports (for Legal Aid Queensland, Legal Aid Victoria, various defence lawyers and Community Corrections);
Social and Family Assessments for separate representative lawyers and the Department of Child Safety;
Reports for matters heard in the Federal Magistrates and Family Law Court as a Family Consultant within the meaning of the Family Law Act, 1975 in my private practice in Cairns and Townsville. Additionally, I am currently a Family Consultant at the Brisbane Registry of the Federal Magistrates Court.
Reports for various Tribunals; and
Criminal Compensation Reports for Legal Aid Queensland, Indigenous Legal Services and lawyers in private practice;
I am also a member of the Central and Northern Queensland Regional Parole Board which meets at the Townsville Correctional Centre on a monthly basis, and I am on the panel of expert witnesses for the International Criminal Court, The Hague, The Netherlands.
Additionally, I have spent a considerable amount of time in Indigenous communities in the Cape and Northern regions of Queensland and come from a trans-cultural background. Consequently, I have a sound understanding of trans-cultural issues.
With respect to an ongoing therapeutic relationship with clients, I have colleagues to whom I often refer clients and who are prepared to engage in the therapeutic process with clients who require ongoing counselling. This allows for a full case management plan which I have found is beneficial to the client.
